Anita holds both a Master of Education (Early Childhood) and a Master of Counselling, with extensive experience in working with young children across educational, early intervention, school and therapy settings. Anita’s approach is rooted in a deep understanding of nervous system regulation, child development and how to promote positive behaviours and skills through play.
Anita has certified and extensive training in working with autistic, ADHD and neurodivergent children and young people, and as a parent to an autistic young person, is passionate about neuro-affirming practices. She also has experience as a child and adolescent trauma counsellor.
Anita is able to assess motor and movement skills and uses integrative approaches to improve movement, integrate retained primitive reflexes and build gross/fine motor skills in play and everyday routines.
Anita focuses on routines, family systems and relationships to promote regulation, build self esteem, self-advocacy skills and use a strengths-based approach to help children and families thrive.
Anita is a proud member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), maintaining high ethical standards with regular supervision.
Additionally, Anita is skilled in using Hanen-based speech and language approaches, collaborative, proactive, solutions-based practices (Dr. Ross Greene) and the “be my co-therapist” approach. Anita uses an integrative approach to therapy drawing on sand tray therapy, Child-Centred Play Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Gestalt Therapy, Jungian approaches, expressive therapies and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Working under the supervision of speech pathologists to support families, carers and educators to implement strategies to increase a child’s ability to develop speech sounds through normal articulation development strategies, as well as implement strategies which assist children who struggle to produce sounds.
Working with parents, carers and educators to implement strategies which increase positive interaction between adults and carers. Increasing successful interactions between adults and children is the first step to increasing language skills in a child.
Visual communication strategies are used in many situations to increase a child’s success within various activities and routines.
Collaborating with families to use strategies to support sleep, identify and address sleep issues and embed effective sleep routines/practices for children and families.
Support families, carers and educators to promote and encourage children’s play skills and positive interactions with peers.
Working with parents, carers and educators to identify lagging skills and their impact on children’s daily life (such as dressing, eating, following routines) -implement strategies through play, interactions and daily routines to encourage skill development and improve function.
Supporting families/carers to develop partnerships with other professionals. Supporting families, carers and early childhood educators to develop and implement strategies (through play, daily routines and interactions) to support children and their families in readiness for school.
Using family centred approaches and collaborating in partnerships with families/carers and a range of professionals (such as speech pathologists, Occupational therapists, specialist educators) to build the capacity and confidence of all those involved in supporting and caring for children with disabilities and/or developmental delay.
